The Hawes Wedding Case Study

The wedding

Adele and Glen Hawes got married on a Friday in April 2003. They chose to get married in a small civil ceremony at a registry office and then have a blessing the following day in their living room at their own home in Hardwick, Oxfordshire, with many guests invited. A large marquee was erected next to their house to accommodate over 200 guests. They treated this day as their proper wedding and went to town with the planning to create a truly unique wedding with a fairytale theme.

The package

The amount of planning and coordination that went into their special day, was made a bit more difficult as they actually live on an island, only reachable by boat. Adele & Glen had originally met us at a wedding fair at Lains Barn in Wantage, and after viewing our demo tape decided to go ahead with a booking. We were more than happy to visit them on the island to discuss the various packages available to them. They selected the Big Day Package as a starting point, requesting additional footage to be taken of the Bride and Groom's preparations in two different locations, the personal messages and two extra hours into the evening in order to capture their first dance. We also agreed to edit a friend's footage of their registry office wedding from the Thursday afternoon, and add it to their final video.

The most unique filming we did on the day was the Bride's arrival in a speedboat, whilst travelling across to the island ourselves in another speedboat running alongside. We felt this style of filming really fitted with the fun atmosphere of the whole day.

The video

The final video was just over 2 hours in length and was delivered to Glen and Adele two weeks after their wedding. They have since ordered a further 4 VHS copies and two DVDs for their friends and family.
